19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his first trophy for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has had a difficult year, managing just one win at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in especial - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and finally separating with former trainer his previous coach.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

It is his first trophy since the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt since March of that year.

Success also means he has won twenty-one championships at 21 various tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my children simultaneously, so to secure a championship is particularly special," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six finals, including in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's defensive play style and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted observers to doubt if his capacity to perform at the highest level was finished.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and perform aggressively, supported by an better serving game.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky opponent, winning four of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors swapped break points in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his maiden ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

The opponent rescued 4 early-game break points in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev won the break to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, he clinched the win with a rally at the net, with Moutet failing to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
